This mixed media exhibit explores emotions that come with negative relationships and the dependencies that form along with them. The phrase “Without you I’m Nothing” means that without another person you are incomplete. It suggests that the other person adds value that cannot be found in any other place. The truth of the matter is that one’s self-worth is not dependent on another, it comes from within.
There is healing in the message that even though negativity has been a part of life, a person can rise to discover that even without healthy parents, partners, or habits – you are still something. Your worth comes from within.
Detached
During your formative months in the womb, you develop a bond and a connection to the woman who gives you life. Without that woman to provide that sustenance, you are nothing. If, at birth, you are detached from that woman, it leaves a primal wound in you and in her.
